The focus of the curriculum is to provide students with a well-rounded musical education while enhancing their appreciation of the value of music. This will be accomplished through a variety of activities and assignments. The courses will be divided into two parts skills and theory development.
• Skills will focus on developing student’s proper technique and skills associated with performing on their instruments.
• Theory development will help to establish a better understanding of the principles and concepts of music and reading music.
Students will also be exposed to a variety of musical styles that influence their repertoire. In addition they will participate in listening activities which will teach them to critically listen to music and have a deeper understanding and appreciation of music.

SDYAMA is a gift to the whole San Diego community. Their students are provided with a comprehensive and diverse music experience provided by stellar instructors. If you haven't seen and heard these young people you have missed a special treat. I was blown away at these young people skills; from contemporary to classical (vocal and instrumental).

George Hill introduced the San Diego Young Artists Music Academy and we were treated to solo performances by these talented youth. We heard vocalists, pianists, and saw a wonderful young man who did a moving mime to some beautiful music. Just Fabulous All!
